Power Applications Engineer – Dublin or Cork, Ireland

AnDAPT is revolutionizing the power management market with its disruptive Software Defined Power Solution, offering customers unprecedented programmability to create and customize a Power Management IC (PMIC) within minutes. AnDAPT power solutions target markets where the number of power rails is large, therefore require power management functions, but volume is not large enough to justify development of a full custom PMIC.

As a Power Supply Applications Engineer with AnDAPT you will be responsible for switching power supply systems characterisation, evaluation and development. From day one, the candidate will work with the Applications team to characterise, develop, and bring to production, power solutions for our customers worldwide. Our ideal candidate will be a strong team player who is quick to analyze a problem and to work toward a solution.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluation of switching power supplies built with the company’s products
  • Design and layout of in-house and customer applications boards and evaluationn boards
  • Provides switching power supply design support and technical advice to the company’s customers worldwide
  • Troubleshoot and debug power supply performance issues
  • Automation of evaluation of switching power supplies using suitable programming language e.g. Python
  • Designs and develops switching power supplies using the company’s proprietary configurable PMIC products
  • Assist with writing of technical application materials for publication on companys website

Requirements

  • Electronic Engineering Degree with additional 3+ years of combined (work or academia) experience in Power Electronics
  • Understanding of power conversion topologies (buck, boost, buck-boost, LDO, Load-Switches etc)
  • Most of the candidates experience will have been in any of the following areas: power converters/conversion, switching/switch mode power supply units (psu), control loop design and power magnetics design (transformers, inductors etc)
  • Experience designing power electronic circuitry for industrial electronic equipment or consumer devices is desirable
  • Excellent written and oral communications with experience in specification creation, technical report writing and test plans/instructions
  • *The candidate will be very familiar with the use of standard power supply laboratory test equipment i.e. (DMM, PS, Oscilloscope, Power Meter, Amp meters, Current probes, etc.)
  • Proven ability to analyze and troubleshoot/debug power supply design and performance issues
  • Knowledge of printed circuit board (PCB) design, EMI, EMC
